Move Colorado Announces Partnership with Colorado Contractors Association
DENVER, CO - March 14, 2006
Today, Move Colorado announced a partnership with the Colorado Contractors Association (CCA) representing over 370 firms building Colorado's infrastructure. According to Move Colorado President Steve Holt, the "Partnership with CCA has been longstanding in pursuing solutions to Colorado transportation funding issues. CCA was part of the transportation industry support for FasTracks, Proposition 1A in El Paso County, and passage of Referendum C last November. Now we will strengthen support for transportation funding from Referendum C - a commitment registered by voters in the election as the legislature moves forward."
The Colorado Contractors Association, Colorado's Premier Construction Group, was established in 1933. Headquartered in Denver, Colorado, CCA will be the first Partner member of Move Colorado. CCA members construct airports; light rail facilities; bridges and dams; highways and streets; underground utilities and distribution systems for water, wastewater and sewer, power and telecommunications. The organization also includes construction support businesses such as financial, insurance and bonding, materials supply, and heavy equipment companies.
During the Referendam C&D campaign, CCA played a leadership role in supporting the campaign establishing an initiative for the transportation industry. At the recent CCA Annual Convention, Move Colorado was featured as a major program element in future CCA efforts to increase funding for transportation. CCA has made funding of Referendum C commitments a major priority in the current legislative session, a top priority for Move Colorado. As a Partner member of Move Colorado, CCA will help keep the advocacy and coalition building focused on major proposals long term to meet the transportation funding gap confronting the state. This will be a key issue for candidates in the fall election.
