Highlights: Move Colorado Task Force Position Statement Delivered to the Governor and Legislature - A Call to Action

Move Colorado has worked in a bipartisan manner with state and local elected officials to support transportation funding mechanisms that help to further leverage existing revenue streams. Move Colorado supported the TRANs bonding approach, design-build procurement, tolling, regional transportation authorities, FasTracks and Referendum C & D. Colorado voters have demonstrated a preference for multi-modal solutions to fund airports, transit, and local roads. Unfortunately, we haven't yet created a sustainable funding stream to meet our statewide multi-modal needs.

Members of Move Colorado are unified in our perspective that current investment in transportation is insufficient. We commend the previous administration's commitment to creating tools for leveraging resources, streamlining processes and establishing programmatic efficiencies as a means of helping current funding go further. We also applaud the Legislature in continuing to support implementation of Referendum C along with the benefits to transportation funding which are restored as a result of HB 1310 and SB 1 - a commitment that has resulted in vitally needed revenues for transportation.

Now we are at a time of making difficult decisions and demonstrating leadership beyond that which we have been called upon in the past. Move Colorado leaders are prepared to advance the dialogue for new and innovative funding, and seek to develop partnerships with individuals and organizations interested in facing the challenge. We request that the Governor and the Legislature:

  • Maintain the integrity of SB1 funding for transportation
  • Develop a statewide multi-modal transportation vision with adequate fiscal support
  • Authorize referred measures and statutory changes to increase statewide multi-modal transportation funding.
